Make a Difference Day
Juniors and Seniors from Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School came to Homme Home to help with grounds keeping, activities for residents, and the Wittenberg Food Pantry. The community service time was coordinated as a part of their career readiness program. At the Wittenberg Food Pantry, students cleaned shelves and prepared the pantry to better store and distribute food to those in need. At Homme Home, students assisted the maintenance department to prepare the inner courtyard for winter. The courtyard is a place residents and their families go to enjoy the outdoors. Students raked leaves, prepared flower beds for winter, and hauled the yard waste out of the courtyard for proper disposal. Students also helped the activity department create a display for a TimeSlips story, prepare materials for future activities, and assisted with Bingo. All in all, the few hours each student contributed will yield results for weeks and months to come.
